DIRECTIONS
The nearest small town to Stansfield is Clare only 4 miles away, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Sudbury and Haverhill are all about 12 miles away. Cambridge and Ipswich are about 35 miles away. The nearest shops are in Clare. The nearest railway is Sudbury (branch line) Colchester, Cambridge, Ipswich, (main line) and Bury St Edmunds

Once in Stansfield drive through the village (it is only small) on the main road until you come to The Compasses public house, the cottage is next to the pub. Drive up alongside the pub and park on the gravel infront of the cottage

From Sudbury

  1. Depart Sudbury on the A131 towards Long Melford  continue north on B1064  towards Long Melford drive Through  Long Melford
  2. Turn left (west) onto A1092 towards Cavendish and Clare(just past Kentwell hall)
  3. Once in Clare turn right at The Bell towards Hundon
  4. Drive  out of Clare once the houses thin out (approx 1 mile) turn right signposted Poslingford and Stansfield.
  5. Follow the road through Poslingford till you reach Stansfield (about 4 miles)

From Bury St Edmunds
  1. Depart Bury on the A143 towards Horringer and Haverhill.
  2. Stay on the A143 drive through Horringer and Chedburgh
  3. Once you get to Wickhambrook turn left at the Plumbers Arms PH signposted denston and Stansfield 
  4. Drive through Denston and continue along the road, as the road reaches the top of the hill it bears right towards Stansfield and straight on towards Hawkedon,
5 Drive down the hill and continue to the over end of the village.

From Newmarket
  1. Depart Newmarket on the A1304
  2. Turn right onto B1063 for  towards Cheveley
  3. Stay on B1063 drive through Cheveley, Ashley, Lidgate and Wickhambrook until you reach the junction with the A143
  4. Turn left onto the  A143 towards Bury St Edmunds continue for about 1 mile
  5. Turn right at the plumbers arms  signposted Denston and Stansfield
6. Drive through Denston and continue along the road, as the road reaches the top of the hill it bears right towards Stansfield and straight on towards Hawkedon,
7. Drive down the hill  and continue to the other end of the village .

From M11 Haverhill
  1. take 9 off the M11 and head towards Haverhill
  2. follow the road into Haverhill
  3. Turn left at the mini roundabout towards Bury st Edmunds on the A143
  4. Stay on the a143 until you get to Wickhambrook.Turn right at the plumbers arms  signposted Denston and Stansfield.
5.Drive through Denston and continue along the road, as the road reaches the top of the hill it bears right towards Stansfield and straight on towards Hawkedon,
6.Drive down the hill  and continue to the other end of the village.
